Review of the Estarli E28. X 2025 electric motorcycle

E-bikes have come a long way in recent years. Where there were once clunky, disjointed-looking, electric-powered bikes, there’s now sleek e-bikes that could easily pass as standard push bikes on looks alone; enter the 2025 Estarli E28.X e-bike. Just like the automotive world e-bikes come with various different powertrains and price points but the Estarli E28.X offers an impressive package for under £2,000 ($2,500).

The Estarli e28. X is designed to simplify the decision of which electric motorcycle to choose, offering a motorcycle that is easy to get along with, whether or not you have ridden an electric motorcycle before. The British company offers a range of folding, full-size and shipping electric motorcycles that manage to cleverly disguise their electric nature. Estarli’s newest model, the e28. X, has been created for urban riding and comes with a crossbar or crossbar frame in a choice of pistachio, bronze or blue powder coating.

Speaking about the arrival of this new model, co-founder Oliver Francis said: “The e28. X is all about comfort and ease. We wanted to design a motorcycle that would eliminate barriers and stress issues for non-riders. Anyone can board the e28. X, dressed in whatever they need, and leave in a second. It is intentionally not a “smart motorcycle” – it does not analyze you or complicate your day – it is an “easy” motorcycle. No chain, no gears to change, no tension.

The e28. X has a belt drive formula and a two-speed automatic motor. This means that you can ride and the motorcycle will determine which of those gears is most appropriate for the scenario. The two-speed setup means that low speeds and hills are dealt with through the lowest gear and the highest gear opens up for higher speeds.

Compared to chain-driven bikes, the belt-drive configuration is a breeze. There’s no jangling of a chain and nothing to catch loose clothes in either. It gives a good amount of feedback through the pedals so you can gauge how much assistance the bike is giving you. Although it’s got two gears, it has five power modes to help out, these can be selected using the up and down buttons which are positioned below the screen.

On a single charge, the battery should last for around 60 miles of riding depending on how much you call on its assistance. The battery can be easily removed and recharging takes around three and a half hours. This size battery offers a good balance between range and weight so the e28.X feels light enough to carry around if you need to run up some stairs or load it into the back of a car.

While the Estarli team has focused on reducing the complexity of the bike, the e28. X still features wonderful technologies. On the handlebar there is a small screen that shows data such as the battery charge point, speed, the strength point you are at and your maximum speed during the ride. The graphics are undeniable to read and it is undeniable that you should follow everything even when you are on the move.

The belt drive formula and motor create a blank setup that handles everything you want perfectly. The motorcycle also comes with built-in lighting fixtures that can be turned on and off with two clicks on the force button on the display. Everything looks good and it will only take a few minutes to get to grips with it before you’re in a position to start riding.

The step-through and crossbar versions of the Estarli e28 electric motorcycle. X 2025 have a starting price of £1,895 ($2,400). Estarli gives you the option of paying the amount in advance or in up to 4 installments to split the cost. Optional extras come with 40mm front suspension for £120 ($150), a dropper post for £95 ($120) and a rear rack for £45 ($60). Additional appliances may be offered, such as two other styles of panniers, a 12V camping charger and seat suspension.

The idea of owning and enjoying an e-bike feels effortlessly easy with the Estarli e28.X. It feels like the natural progression from a non-electric bike when you need to go a bit further or work a little less hard, so you make it to your final destination without being a sweaty mess. In a market where there’s a wide range of price points, the e28.X seems like great value for money for what is an easy-to-live-with city e-bike.
