Results come from 2023 Lordstown Motors Endurance All-Electric Truck Test

Electric vehicle maker Lordstown Motors recently provided some of its all-electric Endurance pickups to the Midwest.

After driving two other Endurance vans for 90 minutes, here’s Car and Driver’s idea for the experience:

“Obviously it needs some final tweaks, but based on our limited drive, we would say the Lordstown Endurance is almost fit to be used with a fleet of trucks. This means that the quality of the meeting is superior and that the trucks remain firmly in the hands of the first customers. More importantly, it also means that Lordstown can convince risk-averse buyers of conservative fleets that they not only buy electric vans, but do so from a new company. “

To put it bluntly, Car and Driver’s overall fun is positive for Lordstown: the business is burning money with disappointing production results to date. However, it aims to deliver 50 games in 2022, but is expected to increase to 450 games in the first part of 2023.

Lordstown has an attractive design with Endurance, with a 4-wheel hub motor that reduces the number of moving portions. For fleet use, fewer portions translate into a decrease in total cost of ownership. These engines supply approximately 440 horsepower and the truck is attractive limited to a maximum of 75 mph.

Although Lordstown said the Endurance has a towing capacity of up to 8,000 pounds and a diversity of about two hundred miles, skeptics will still wonder what happens to energy consumption when the truck transports heavier trucks. Most likely, the Endurance will be designed for the backyard or to be used as part of a working fleet: an estimated diversity of two hundred miles would possibly not do much for consumers.

That’s absolutely not pessimistic for Lordstown, however, the ambitious start-up automaker has everything ready to move on.
