The Red Sox began their communal house on a bitter note.
Boston lost their first game to the Washington Nationals 10-2 on Friday night at Fenway Park.
The Red Sox now have two in a row.
Max Scherzer shone on the mound, getting at least 10 strikeouts for the 97th time in his career. He finished at 11K and didn’t walk on a batter.
Martín Pérez looked in two, but the Nationals scored five numbers on the third.
With the defeat, the Red Sox fell to 10-22, while the Nationals rose to 12-17.
Here’s how it all turned out:
GAME IN A NUTSHELL
The attack simply failed to take the opposite position against Scherzer, while the pitches were still fighting.
IN THE BOMP – Pérez went 1-2-3 innings in the first and second, but had some problems in the third.
Trea Turner overcame two issues to take the scoring to 2-0 in the national championships before Juan Soto doubled the lead with a two-point explosion.
Washington was back to back when Howie Kendrick connected a solo home race to lead 5-0.
Perez, however, was out of the game with five RACES.
Washington made it 6-1 in the fourth when Turner was caught in a pickle trying to steal second for out No. 3. He stayed alive long enough to allow Victor Robles to score.
– Robert Stock took over the fifth and pitched a blank inning.
The Nationals opened a six-run leader in the sixth when Michael Taylor hit Xander Bogaerts hard, who stabbed him in a big stab, but too late to take the ball first. Kurt Suzuki crossed space and was 7-1.
– Jeffrey Springs pitched a seventh 1-2-3 with a punch.
The left-hander is back for the eighth and hasn’t been as lucky this time.
Asdrúbal Cabrera led the innings with a single. Springs went to the next two outs, Josh Harrison made the 9-1 after a two-run home run.
A batter, single and double, he led the Nationals to run for the 10-1 lead.
IN THE BATTERY BOX – The Red Sox was given a run in the fourth with two outs when Alex Verdugo hit a single and brought the house with Rafael Devers’ double 100 in his career.
– The Red Sox’s offensive entry came here in the ninth.
They scored his career from moment on the scoreboard in the ninth when Kevin Pillar hit a single to kevin Plawecki to take him to 10-2 before loading the score with an out.
But none of that came out and the Red Sox fell twice in a row.
– José Peraza led the two hits. All the other members of the initial nine had an impediment to J.D. Martinez.
TWEET GAME Never forgets No. 42.
The Red Sox and Nationals play the game of their three-game set on Saturday. The first pitch at Fenway Park is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. And.
