Izuchukwu Achusim, 42, is believed to have drowned in a swimming pool in Onitsha, Anambra state.
The deceased reportedly went to the hotel with his friend on Saturday to swim in the pool.
The nation gathered the deceased, who said he was drunk, jumped into the innermost component of the pool and drowned.
The efforts of the hotel manager and the guests, who took him out and took him to a nearby hospital, proved arbitrary.
Police spokesman Haruna Mohammed showed the incident and said the painting was left at the hospital morgue for an autopsy.
He said: ‘On 15/8/2020 around 8:30 p.m., there was a report at Onitsha Central Police Station that a 42-year-old Izuchukwu Achusim from 35th Street from the guest house, Fegge went to Lotus Garden Hotel in Onitsha with her friend to swim in the pool.
“However, the victim reportedly jumped into the innermost component of the pool and drowned.
“The hotel manager and other visitors took the victim out and took her to onitsha’s waterfront hospital for medical treatment, but then qualified as dead through a doctor on call.
“The scene was visited by police detectives and the frame photographed and deposited in the hospital morgue for an autopsy.
During this time, the case is under investigation into the cases surrounding the incident.
“Command instructs the public that they have no swimming skills to take precautionary measures using the life jackets provided to the pool to avoid similar horrific incidents.
