Mayor John Cooper said Tuesday that the Titans will begin their season and that Nashville SC will continue their season without enthusiasts in the stands due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This will be the case at least until September.
The limits have still been announced at Vanderbilt Stadium, where school football games are scheduled to begin in October.
The Titans, which open the season on September 14 in Denver, play at Nissan Stadium in September. They play in Jacksonville on September 20 at noon.
“It’s undeniable that we’re opening our house show on September 20 in front of the fans,” said Titans President and CEO Burke Nihill.
“Professional football is a game meant to be played in front of a noisy and enthusiastic crowd and no one needs this result more than us. However, those are not general times and as civic leaders of this wonderful city, we perceive and Mayor Cooper and the resolution taken today through the Metro Nashville Department of Health to delay the reception of enthusiasts at Nissan Stadium.
Nashville SC is scheduled to play a game at Nissan Stadium on August 30, Inter Miami CF.
“It’s hard that nearly six months ago, on February 29, we welcomed 60,000 enthusiasts to our inaugural Major League Soccer game and even harder to realize the change our lives have undergone since,” said Ian Ayre, ceo of Nashville SC. “Let’s regret the help of those 60,000 enthusiasts. While we all know the price of enthusiasts for their team, it is vital that we all assume the duty of the opposite fight to this virus by taking a technique guilty to the protection of all.”
Nashville SC has games scheduled at Nissan Stadium on September 2 against Orlando City SC. september 12 against Atlanta United FC.
Fans have been able to attend three races this summer at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway. Capacity limited to 2,550 fans.
A fourth race is scheduled for the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway on August 29.
