Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said today that he wanted to enlist in the army but may not do so because of problems in his family.
Speaking to the workers’ corps of Assam Rifles and the Indian Army’s 57th Mountain Division in Imphal, Rajnath Singh told how he took the exam to enter the forces.
“I want to tell a story from my childhood. I also sought to enroll in the army, and once I gave the impression for the Short Service Commission examination. I took the written exam. But, due to certain conditions in my family, coupled with the death of my father, I could not enter the army,” he said.
“You will see, if you give the army uniform to a child, his personality changes. There is an air of mystery in this uniform,” he added.
The minister was accompanied by army leader General Manoj Pande on the stopover at the headquarters of the Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South) in Mantripukhri, where they met with the troops.
Rajnath Singh recounted the bravery of the security forces in the india-China standoff.
“When the confrontation between India and China was happening, he may not have known all the details, but I know and the army leader at the time knows the bravery and courage that our jawans showed, the country will be indebted to you. ” he said.
“Wherever I go, I make sure to meet soldiers. When my stopover in Manipur was scheduled, I asked (army chief) Pande-ji that I would like to meet with the troops of Assam Rifles and the 57th Mountain Division,” Mr. said Singh. a.
