Victoria seems ready to escape the torrential rains that continue to lash southeast of New South Wales, but a rainy week is still expected across the state.
As the formula that brings torrential downpours to New South Wales begins to move northwards and moves away from the coast, some other unscrusting front of the west is expected to hit Victoria on Tuesday.
A very slow low-voltage formula has stalled in the Great Australian Bay and south of Adelaide and is expected to run rainy, bloodless weather over the south-eastern parts of the country until the end of this week.
Keris Arndt, senior weather bureau forecaster, said it would bring a lot of rain, but it would still rain until the weekend.

He said the floods experienced across New South Wales had generally stayed away from Victoria and that the state no longer expected rainy weather from this system.
Arndt’s Monday and Tuesday would be “quiet, sunny days” before the rain hits.
“The showers and rains won Tuesday in the west of the state that will cross the rest of the state on Wednesday, with showers and thunderstorms to come,” he said.

Between 20 and 25 mm of rain are expected on the beaches on Wednesday, with the rest to get less than 10 mm.
Arndt said it was “much smoother” this week compared to last week’s record bloodless front, and that the temperature would warm up the week.
Melbourne is heading for a peak of 16 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and Wednesday before temperatures reach a peak of 18 degrees Celsius on Thursday.
