PTC in Reading has established a strategic supplier that collaborates with the Volkswagen Group.

The agreement includes the adoption of PTC’s Codebeamer application lifecycle monitoring (ALM) platform.

This will be the evolution of the software for the next generation of electric cars from the Volkswagen Group and its brands.

“The Volkswagen Group and its portfolio of brands produce some of the automotive industry’s most iconic automobiles, and PTC is excited to advance its software and electrification strategy with Codebeamer,” said Jim Heppelmann, president and CEO of PTC.

“Our close collaboration will drive PTC’s efforts to make Codebeamer the leading ALM for the automotive industry.

“We look forward to working with the Volkswagen Group for Codebeamer’s good fortune and enabling more effective EV engineering practices. “

PTC will work with the Volkswagen Group on transitioning to Codebeamer from pre-existing ALM tools, as well as defining and implementing software practices for the automotive industry.

“Software and electrification constitute the long-term of the automotive industry, and the Volkswagen Group leverages both in combination to better meet visitor expectations and deliver an incredible driving experience,” said Klaus Blüm, Head of IT Architecture and Products at the Volkswagen Group.
