French automaker Peugeot officially unveiled its newest pickup truck, the Peugeot Landtrek, at the Kenyan market on Tuesday, February 21 in Nairobi.
The new truck presented at the French Embassy through the Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade, Olivier Becht.
According to Becht, the car style was assembled through the Kenyan company Urysia and is the result of a true business partnership.
“The Landtreck vehicle meeting integrates local task creation, generation movement and on-site worker training.
“This is a very concrete example of win-win partnerships that France is expanding with African countries,” Becht revealed.
First launched in 2020, the Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) marked the return of the Peugeot logo to the van market by offering 6-seat, diesel double cab versions as well as a multitude of accessories to meet the needs of professionals and Pro desires of the activities of users.
Currently, sold only in the markets of Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa, the car has amazing characteristics at very low prices.
The 4×4 truck stands out for providing one of the most profitable spaces that affect the dimensions of the garbage container since it is the most spacious on the market.
In addition, the diesel engine has a displacement of 1. 9 L and 150 hp thanks to a 16-valve turbocharger of variable geometry and a 6-speed manual gearbox while the gasoline engine is turbocharged with a displacement of 2. 4 L and a force of 210 hp and 320 Nm of torque with manual and automatic gearbox of 6 speeds.
The truck is available in manual and automatic transmission with force guidance and a ground clearance of up to 235 mm.
According to CCP, the truck carries five other people and is equipped with four doors, air conditioning, heating, anti-lock braking system, central locking and forced windows.
In addition, the truck has protection and entertainment functions, as well as other elements of comfort and convenience.
Although the truck’s value to the Kenyan market was not revealed at launch, it sells for around Ksh 4. 1 million (R599 000) in South Africa and around Ksh 3. 1 million (AED 89 000) in the UAE.
Introduced to the Kenyan market in 1958, Urysia Limited is the sole importer and distributor of Peugeot in Kenya and the East Africa region.
PSA Groupe and Urysia Limited signed a contract in 2017 to reunite cars bearing the Peugeot logo in Kenya, a rite presided over by former chairman Uhuru Kenyatta.
The meeting assignment is scheduled to begin in June 2017 with an annual volume of 1000 assembled games.
