Powerday targets London with rubbish bins

Recycling and waste control company Powerday has ordered two Volvo FE Electric tippers, two of the first to hit the streets of London.

The FE Electrics, which will be used to serve consumers in the capital and the southeast, is expected to save the company more than 30 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year and following a successful trial of the vehicles.

Powerday chief executive Edward Crossan said: “In line with our net-zero roadmap, adopting these electric skiploaders into our fleet shows our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and contributing to cleaner air and environment in London.

“By investing in electric containers, we are leading the way towards cleaner, greener solutions. »

Equipped with four batteries, each FE Electric offers a range of around 120 miles and can be recharged in just over two hours with a 150kW DC charger at Powerday’s Willesden Junction site.

Volvo Trucks is the first heavy-duty truck manufacturer in the UK to offer four more low-emission car models approved to receive the government subsidy of up to £25,000 in new registrations.

Volvo Trucks has unveiled refreshed electric versions of its medium-duty FL and FE models, offering a diversity of up to 450 km, a 50% shorter charging time and new active protection features. The new FL and FE models, intended for urban use, distribution, waste treatment, etc.

Cheshire-based Boughey Distribution took delivery of its first electric vehicle, the Volvo FE Electric, after driving it for three months. Supplied through Thomas Hardie Commercials, the vehicle features custom livery to announce Boughhey’s commitment to a sustainable future. The vehicle joins the company’s fleet of 144 cars.
