Porsche Taycan owners see their diversity grow thanks to software updates

Many Porsche Taycan owners will be pleased to know that Porsche is making their cars more effective software upgrades resulting in diversity increases.

As we reported in July, the 2023 Porsche Taycan Styling Year update focused primarily on software improvements.

Many of those tweaks were similar to the electric vehicle’s entertainment formula, but there were also various software for the powertrain formula and thermal control that make the 2023 Taycan more efficient.

Now, the news is that those software innovations will also be coming to existing Taycan electric cars produced over the past three years.

The largest accumulation in diversity goes to the Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo, which now ranges from 204 to 233 miles of diversity at a unique pace – a 14% increase in diversity thanks to software innovations in vehicle performance.

Most other range increases are between 3% and 7%, although there are some other variants that increase the reach by more than 10%.

Here is a list of all the bumps for all other Taycan variants (via Drive Tesla Canada):

In addition to increasing efficiency, the software settings will also enable a faster charging curve for Taycan vehicles.

While Porsche talks about delivering the update “over the air”, the press about the update gives the impression that owners will still have to take their cars to the store:

The upgrade is free for consumers and can be done on a stopover at a Porsche service workshop.

But that’s a minor disadvantage to getting more power out of your electric car for up to 3 years.
