Porsche and Audi rental cars seized after being clocked at 200 km/h in Chilliwack

The drivers of two burning cars had to calm down after being arrested in Chilliwack last month.

The BC Highway Patrol said officials timed a blue Audi and a rented black Porsche at just over 200 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on Highway 1 near Popkum Road on March 30.

Both drivers won tickets and their cars were impounded for a week.

Police said they arrested two high-risk drivers the same day.

A drunk driver had his license suspended and his vehicle impounded for three days. The other was left driving while prohibited, his vehicle was impounded for seven days and he was given a court date.

“Our B. C. South Coast Highway Patrol officers worked hard to retain drivers beyond the weekend and arguably would have prevented some traffic fatalities by cutting those four high-risk drivers off the road,” Capt. Melissa Jongema said in a news release.

The Highway Patrol said all four incidents were among the violations reported on the single day of the inspection.
