Leicestershire police have donated several motorcycles to a county explorer after stealing motorcycles for thousands of pounds.
Some 11 motorcycles belonging to the Leicestershire Scouts mountain bike activity team, which organises guided motorcycle rides for youngsters, were taken in the raid to their base near Ashby.
Motorcycles were stolen when thieves checked to enter a secure container between 7 p.m. July 8 and 1 p.m. the next day.
Mountain bikes cost 3000 euros.
Team leader Andy Coker described the robbery as a “hard hit” for the organisation, which hopes to resume the race with other young people once restrictions to block the coronavirus in Leicester are eased.
He said: “They were stored in a place in Ashby that you already stole before this year.
“The locks were cut and the windows damaged at that time.
“This time, they opened the door and broke the lock.”
Now Inspector Jackson, commander of the police district of north-west Leicestershire, has met with the director of Willesley Scout camp, Adi Coleman, to update those that had been stolen.
Motorbikes donated to the police asset group.
Stolen motorcycles have not yet been found, and anyone with data touches the force at 101.
Stolen motorcycles come with a small Mountain Giant Revel Black/Green motorcycle; two Giant Revel White medium motorcycles; a white Felt 7 Fifty mountain motorcycle; two orange-orange Orange AtX (very small) orange motorcycles and five Giant ATX (small) motorcycles in bright green.
