Pittsburgh Pirates first baseman Phillip Evans suffered a jaw injury and was diagnosed with a concussion after being concerned about a terrifying collision with right fielder Gregory Polanco in Saturday’s game against the Detroit Tigers.
Evans and Polanco were chasing a ball from Miguel Cabrera’s sixth inning at bat when the collision occurred. Evans entered foul territory with his back to the frame, while Polanco ran straight at full speed when he inadvertently hit Evans with his elbow. It gave the impression that Evans temporarily knocked out.
Pirates’ players asked for help without delay. The Pittsburgh athletics head coach temporarily asked for a cart and a stretcher. Evans stabilized with a minerva before being transported off the field.

Evans temporarily enjoyed through Pirate fans. He arrived on Saturday with an Array378/ .452/.514 strike in his first 10 games. He made the first house race of his career at MLB on Friday night.
Forget the team, it would be a major sadness at a non-public point if Evans was seriously injured. Journeyman who still had a real chance and played very well. The first diner of his career last night, just thinking about the joy he showed after that. I hope he’s okay.

The 27-year-old played 34 games for the New York Mets between 2017-18.
