Racing Point driver Perez was due to be present for the FIA press conference on Thursday afternoon at Silverstone, but the team was only represented by Lance Stroll.
He announced through MC’s press convention that Perez was absent from the press convention due to an “inconclusive” verification result for COVID-19, and that he isolated himself while awaiting the result of a momently verification.
A Racing Point spokesman said there is no more data than the FIA commentary.
“Czech is not on the circuit after an inconclusive verification result,” he said.
“It isolates you while you wait for the effects of a new test.”
All paddock staff will have to go through a COVID-19 check at least every five days, as indicated by the FIA in its protocols for this season’s grand prix.
Racing Point is expected to turn to one of Mercedes’ backup drivers for the race weekend if Pérez is positive in COVID-19, as a component of an agreement with the team.
It is very likely that Esteban Gutierrez made his first start in F1 since his last appearance for Haas at the end of the 2016 season if Perez was ruled out.
Gutierrez shares Mercedes’ reserve role with McLaren F1’s former driving force, Stoffel Vandoorne, who has the most recent experience at the Grand Prix, making his latest start at the 2018 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
But Vandoorne is expected to be there at Silverstone this weekend as he prepares for the last six races of the Formula E season in Berlin, which will take place during a nine-day era that begins next Wednesday.
A moment check for Perez is a component of FIA protocols when analyzing the entire paddock for COVID-19, however, this is the first time that a driving force has had to re-verify.
F1 has reported the effects of more than 15,000 COVID-19 tests to date, of which two have tested positive.
Both of these were recorded in Hungary two weeks ago, and neither individual had been in Austria at the opening two rounds.
