Peoples Autocentre receives permission to expand site with enclosed showroom

Permission has been given to a dealership in Falkirk to expand by creating an enclosed showroom.

Peoples Autocentre’s parent company, Peoples Scotland, applied to the council last November to occupy an exhibition for the development, according to the Falkirk Herald.

Callendar Road also includes a garage, but Peoples Scotland only wanted to fill an area in the newly opened showroom to create the enclosed area.

Acting under delegated authority, planning officials gave the green light to the task on Tuesday, April 2.

The proposal originally intended to include virtual signage, but this aspect was removed after the company reported that it could eventually cause road safety issues.

As a canopy was already being used to sell cars and there would be no construction in the sales area, the Falkirk Road Development Unit had no objections to this project.

Peoples Ford is headquartered in Falkirk and employs 385 people at six locations: 3 in Scotland and 3 in Liverpool.

The independent store founded by Brian Gilda just 40 years ago.

Last October, Peoples Ltd said its pre-tax profit had plummeted after the company’s margins were hit by increased competition.
