Penske Truck Leasing’s electric vehicle program continues to commission the battery-powered Electric Freightliner eM2, this time at EnerSys, which will use the new truck in Southern California to ship the product to consumers and distributors, respond to emergency calls on the road, and come and go machinery and appliances at construction sites.
“Despite unprecedented times, fleet sustainability and innovation remain a priority for us as we look to the future,” said Paul Rosa, senior vice president of procurement and fleet planning at Penske Truck Leasing.
In 2018, Penske Truck Leasing and Daimler Trucks North America partnered to test the advertising of Freightliner electric trucks in real-world conditions of the new technology. The company received support from a partnership between DTNA and the South Coast Air Quality Management District.
“We are excited to expand our partnership with Penske and Daimler Trucks NA through this exclusive initiative, as we continue our hobby to deliver cutting-edge responses to optimize critical fleet and source chain operations,” said Mark Matthews, senior vice president of global specialty at EnerSys. This is an in-depth learning opportunity to perceive, through our own use case, the electrification of advertising vehicles, as well as the chemistry of choice of those platforms.
The electric truck fleet is supported by a network of heavy-duty electric vehicle charging stations at six Penske Truck Leasing facilities in Southern California. Penske also performs preventive maintenance at these locations.
