Pedestrian dies after being hit last night in Wexford

The 36-year-old hit at the N25 in Portersland around New Ross around 9.50pm last night.

He was taken to Waterford University Hospital by ambulance where he was later pronounced dead.

The driving force of the car is unharmed.

The scene of the turn of fate was preserved for the Garda investigation and the road was closed at the site.

There are local deviations.

The coroner has been notified and arrangements have been made for an autopsy examination.

Gardai appeals to witnesses, especially those who may have dashboard camera photographs to show up.

A spokesman said: “Garda in New Ross is a pleasant witness after a fatal collision involving a pedestrian and a pedestrian in Co Wexford on Tuesday, September 1, 2020.

“At approximately 9:50 p.m., the Garda and the emergency were called to the site of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on the N25 in Portersland near New Ross.

“A 36-year-old pedestrian was injured when he crashed into a car.He was transferred by ambulance to Waterford University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.The driving force of the car was unharmed.”

“The scene is being preserved lately for examination through Garda forensic investigators and the road to the accident is closed.Local traffic deviations exist.

“The coroner has been notified and arrangements have been made for an autopsy examination.

“Garda asks witnesses to come forward. They are very with road users with photographs of the camera (including a camera on board) along the road at that time for them to have.
