Congestion at peak times is greater as more and more people move to the frames in the protective bubble of their own cars than exposure to the threat of coronavirus on public transport.
The Samsung Road Safety Research Institute analyzed traffic volume at 135 sites in Seoul and found that it was in 9.65 million cars in May, 6.1% more than in March, when the closure began.
Weekend traffic volume increased by 10.7%. During peak hours, traffic volumes increase by approximately 2% through December 2019.
At the same time, other people have moved away from public transport because they were fleeing their home or using their own cars.
Average use of transit cards in the Seoul metropolitan domain fell to 9.9 million in May from thirteen million in December.
