Oracle ORCL has reached an agreement with Japanese automaker Nissan to migrate its high-performance computing (HPC) workloads to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
OCI is powered by the intel Xeon core infrastructure built into the RDMA cluster network. This provides latency of less than two microseconds and a bandwidth of one hundred Gbps that allows corporations to migrate HPC knowledge on a large scale to the cloud.
Apart from that, OCI also supports a variety of independent software vendor (ISV) application ecosystems for spaces such as structural simulations and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). This is for Nissan, as it implements structural simulation techniques and CFDs to design cars and conduct protection tests of their cars to detect structural and external aerodynamic problems.

Oracle HPC responses will help Nissan deliver HPC workloads on demand, eliminating the desire to acquire consistent on-site capacity and thus reducing operating costs.
Nissan’s deal is a remarkable victory for Oracle, reflecting the strength of the company’s cloud platform and is expected to increase the company’s cloud revenue in the coming quarters. A few days ago, Oracle also introduced Oracle Cloud VMware Solution, which will allow corporations to seamlessly move their VMware workloads to OCI.
Oracle is gaining ground in the cloud market. Its software-as-a-service and platform-as-a-service products are expected to grow in the coming days as corporations temporarily move to the cloud, caused by the wave of coronavirus-induced home labor.
In addition, the company is working with the capacity of cloud-based applications, which encourages adoption. These projects deserve to give Oracle an initial advantage in the database-as-a-service market.
The company has made offers in the cloud in recent months. The list of developing visitors bodes well for Oracle’s growth, which currently has a rank of Zacks 3 (Hold). You can see the full list of existing Zacks 1 Rank moves here.
Earlier this year, corporations such as 8×8 EGHT and Zoom Video Communications ZM chose OCI’s facilities to deliver video conferencing responses securely in a context of explosive user base growth.
In addition, Oracle is undergoing an immediate expansion in the adoption of Cloud HCM, which is purchased as a component of the enterprise’s cloud ERP suite. In May 2020, Goldman Sachs implemented and commissioned Oracle Cloud HCM. Other notable HCM victories come with Kroger, Norfolk County Council, Petronas, Malaysia-based Petronas, MD Anderson Cancer Center, United Nations and the University of Texas.
The momentum is expected to help Oracle achieve its presence in the public cloud facility market, which Gartner estimates will reach $364.06 billion in 2022 compared to $242.7 billion in 2019.
Oracle wants to invest in its cloud offerings with complex features to capture a higher percentage of place in the market and counter the festival in place of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud computing market, Microsoft MSFT Azure, and Google Cloud. This will likely put pressure on the margins, at least in the short term.
According to Data from Synergy Research Group, Oracle’s market percentage was AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Alibaba, IBM, Salesforce, and Tencent in the last quarter of 2020.
In addition, low spending on small and medium-sized enterprises due to limited economic activity and a weak labor market is likely to put pressure on the adoption of Oracle cloud offerings and HCM application solutions, at least in the short term.
