Although the sum of the data released today represents a total of two high-resolution photographs, there is still much to analyze (including a data leak from China in July). But let’s start with its appearance.

April 15, 2024 UPDATE: No, we won’t. We’ll start with this update, focusing on our first look at the SUV’s interior, which happens to have a very high percentage with its big brother Lyriq. Perhaps the biggest difference is the horizontal border in the center, which can glow in ambient lighting, as can the illuminated horizontal lines on the door panels.

There’s still a lot we don’t know about the design of the Canadian market, destined for our shores by the end of 2024, as a model for 2025, but when we know the details, we’ll move on to having a new article to inform you about. Now let’s go back to the Optiq look and the rest of our original November 2023 article. —Ed.

Its front trim is a natural Cadillac (EV-era), which carries the same soft signature in the form of vertical high beams with a DRL LED skiff that extend horizontally to the grilleless portion of the Optiq. This domain closely resembles the Lyriq, with triangular patterns. adding some visual interest, as EVs technically don’t want grille at all.

The front trim is also dotted with sensors and cameras typical of this space, while a cleverly incorporated flat plate on its chin suggests that Super Cruise could be on the menu in some versions. We’re glad Cadillac chose to offer the Optiq in an expressive color rather than an austere out-of-grayscale hue.

On the rear, we find a design that closely matches the Lyriq and the Escalade IQ, even more so with the latter, with those yellowish eyes. Forked taillights cover the D-pillar and squeeze the tailgate opening, the latter still looking like reflections, as if the design team had forgotten to install reversing lights and other lights first. Perhaps it’s its flared design compared to the narrower lights and more sensitive horns; A black silhouette like Dame Edna’s glasses doesn’t help either.

Speaking of pillars, it’s hard to tell from those photos, however, it looks like the domain between the C and D pillars is filled with textured curtains from a window. Maybe it’s just a layered stylistic detail on the most sensitive part of the glass (like (the ubiquitous advertisements on city buses), as the lack of a transparent domain in this domain would create a hellish blind spot. We’ll find out when we see the Optiq in person.

Otherwise, the vehicle incorporates practical and logical electrical features from its siblings and cousins: flush door handles, a well-placed charging port with an oversized door, and enough aerodynamic trickery to triumph in the last mile of battery range. The Michelin Pilot Sport four SUV tires are shown in this example, with a Four0 series sidewall and 21-inch wheels. These hoops are rubberier than some other features and receive rave reviews from homeowners.

Unfortunately, those specs leaked in July aren’t confirmed at the time of writing. According to Jay Kana’s previous post:

And, for further comparisons, the Lyriq and related Honda Prologue have a wheelbase about five inches longer than the Optiq EV. Power and battery life are up in the air, however, an Equinox EV with near-external dimensions (assuming the above ratings are accurate) offers power performance between 210 and 290 horsepower and a range of between 400 and 490 kilometers on a full charge, depending on the equipment.
