There is now functionality on the hood of the Astra to suit its striking new external design.
A total of 221 hp, in fact. But no, this is not a new Opel Performance Center. It’s called Opel Astra GSe. Et as its call suggests, it’s electrified.
The new car is powered by a 1. 6-liter turbocharged engine mated with a plug-in hybrid system. The torque here reaches an impressive 360 N-m.
Although no race time from 0 to 100 km/h has been proposed, Opel says the car will have a WLTP (Globally Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure) fuel economy of 83 km/L.
And the GSe will be available as a sedan and Astra Sports Tourer GSe estate carry.
There’s also more than just a functionality update to look to the future.
Opel claims that the Astra GSe has also benefited from innovations in motive power engagement, thanks to improved steering, suspension and brakes.
The driving height of the Astra GSe has been reduced by 10 mm, for example for greater stability at maximum speeds. There are also recalibrated springs and oil-filled surprise shock absorbers.
The appearance of the Opel Astra GSe has been improved.
There’s a GSe-exclusive front bumper and fascia, as well as a new GSe emblem that you can attach to the tailgate.
Look at it from the sidewall and realize that those 18-inch wheels look like those on the amazing all-electric Manta GSe concept.
