OOOF, pinch me! Jaguar logo adds fuel to all-electric F-type successor hypothesis

Jaguar’s all-electric i-Pace is very popular right now, even the well-known automotive designer Henrik Fisker drives one, but let’s be honest, our engine doesn’t work like the F-Type does. But fortunately for us, Jaguar can have an electric sports car on the way.

According to a presentation made in recent months, detected through Autoautomobile, the British manufacturer is looking to record the so-called “Jaguar EV-Type”, suggesting that an all-electric sports car may be on the horizon.

Jaguar could have used names it already owns, such as E-Type. To some readers that name will conjure images of a bygone era where cars were elegant and smooth. To others, E-Type sounds like a great name for an electric car. I wouldn’t balk if Jag did decide to call its electric sports car the E-Type, but I’m sure plenty would.

Many other automakers are reinventing old and iconic calls as electric vehicles, and taking the upcoming Hummer or Ford Mustang Mach-E as two examples. But it’s probably better than Jaguar if the E-Type remains the charming and iconic vintage it is, smearing your call with new technology.

That said, according to Autocar, the EV nickname is a sophisticated nod to the E-Types of antiquity. Maybe it’s for the best; popularity of heritage but not a total reconstruction of it.

As far as the EV type is concerned, all we have to do right now is rumors and speculation.

A few years ago, reports revealed that Jaguar could chase to give the next iteration of its F-Type an electric transmission, and it would do so until 2021. Since 2021 is next year, it doesn’t seem very likely that this will take place at any time. Soon.

In addition, Jaguar expands an EV platform for the sports car, as its i-Pace platform probably won’t be able to offer the functionality we expect from an all-electric F-Type.

Although the Jag logo turns out to verify the company’s electrical intentions, it does not appear that a new F-Type will be introduced for at least a few years. Given the logo that the original F-Type left on the market when it was introduced in 2013, we can be sure that the EV Type will rate the wait.

If you can’t wait, you may need to take a look at a classic EV conversion like the Jaguar XK120 Lunaz. A completely electrical reinvention of a 1953 harvest.
