OFFICIAL: The last Chevrolet Camaro is built

Chevrolet rolled out the final Camaro in Lansing, Michigan, earlier this week, the automaker confirmed to Road & Track. The end of production arrived earlier than scheduled, which was set to happen in January 2024.

“The Camaro is an exciting product,” a Chevrolet spokesperson said in a statement to the publication. “He has developed a fan base around the world and attracted other people to Chevrolet dealerships for generations. The sixth generation in particular represented athleticism and composure. He exudes confidence on the road and dominance on the track. “

Chevrolet announced the discontinuation of the Camaro in March. The Camaro Collector’s Edition is a nod from the brand to the nameplate, where all 350 examples are finished in Panther Black.

Chevy hasn’t announced a direct successor for the Camaro. However, the automaker said, “This is not the end of Camaro’s story.” If it sounds familiar, the Camaro was discontinued in 2002 before returning in 2010 as the fifth-gen iteration. The now-outgoing sixth-gen arrived in 2016.

Given that the industry is all for electrification, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the Camaro go electric. For now, the nameplate is still taking a break, with the Chevrolet Corvette remaining in the brand’s lineup of functional cars.

The Chevrolet Camaro is leaving the market for powerful cars along with its old rival, the Challenger, which will be reborn as a powerful all-electric car rumored to produce 885 horsepower. However, Dodge could introduce a combustion option for those in a position to shift.

Ford, on the other hand, is succeeding in this segment with the next-generation Mustang S650. The Blue Oval corporate gives several versions, adding exclusive racing versions, such as the Mustang GT3 that will compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans next year. While Ford has denied claims that the iteration of the existing generation will end in 2028, the Blue Oval pony car will be around for a long time.
