Dutch coachbuilder Heritage Customs has created a Land Rover Defender pickup based on the Land Rover Defender 130, but it will set you back around £150,000.
Land Rover has managed to expand the new Land Rover to an almost mind-boggling diversity of offerings, with three length features and powertrains ranging from frugal diesel (always the most productive bet) to PHEVs and even a V8, and lately the Land Rover Defender. Octa at Come, which debuts next week.
But one variant of the new Land Rover Defender that has so far stayed out of the way is the Defender Pick-Up, but if that’s what you’ve been waiting for, there’s a way to get one.
Dutch coachbuilder Heritage Customs, co-owned by Niels van Roij, who brought us the Range Rover SV Coupe and a ‘Rust’ for the Defender, has now unveiled its Pick-Up edition of the Defender 130.
Using a Defender 130 X Dynamic SE as a starting point, Heritage cut the roof where the rear seats are and installed a tray (which turns out to have a hard time holding two bales of hay), upgraded the interior with premium leather, and added a roof rack for takeaway. a spare tire and gave it a new paint.
The Heritage Customs Defender van, which they nickname “Valiance”, takes 3 months to build and costs around £150,000.
