Nissan Family Dealership Unveils Ambitious Plans to Transform Showroom

A family-owned used dealer and legal repairer for Nissan has unveiled ambitious plans for a primary renovation of its showroom.

Middlehurst Garages operates in St Helens and has been in the same family since 1957, going through three generations.

Founded by Jack Middlehurst, the company is now under the control of his grandson, Andy, who applied for a permit for the facility.

In proposals handed to St Helens Borough Council, the outfit has outlined a desire to change its existing workshop into a car sales showroom.

The bosses also need to make adjustments to the construction to include adjustments to the windows and plan to turn their framing workshop into an in-house MOT centre.

The proposals come with a single-storey front and side extension that will accommodate a prefabricated service reception, adjacent to the existing workshop location.

The St Helens Star reports that plans also include the redevelopment of an existing courtyard and the replacement of palisade fences with paladin fences.

Work is already underway on some of the developments and as such, part of the application is retrospective.

Locals can now make any comments they wish in relation to the plans, a public consultation on the St Helens City Council website.

The local government is expected to make a final decision on the proposals by Feb. 15.

Jack joined the car dealership team in 2021 as a copywriter. In the past he worked as a journalist for a national newspaper for the BNPS news agency. He has provided automotive news and reports for several national publications including The Sun, The Times. and The daily mirror.
