COOLIDGE, Arizona. – Nikola Corp. is one step closer to a 1 million-foot project. production plant in Coolidge, Arizona, after an official opening rite on Thursday.
First, the plant will produce Class 8 to 0 advertising trucks Nikola Tre and Nikola Two. In full production, the installation will succeed in 35,000 games consistent with the year, Nikola said.
Nikola Tre is a battery-powered electric vehicle, while Nikola Two runs on hydrogen cells.
However, the first Nikola Tre will be produced in Ulm, Germany, in partnership with IVECO.
“It was an adventure for Nikola Corporation. We started in our basement six years ago, and now we’re launching this million-square-foot production facility,” said Trevor Milton, founder and CEO of Nikola.
“The next 12 months will be even more exciting when we see this facility grow and we climb more Arizonans to Nikola’s team.”
Nikola is making a $600 million investment in the plant, which is expected to generate more than 1,800 new jobs.
Located near Highway 87 in the United States, the facility will incorporate the newest technologies to optimize overall energy consumption, productivity and quality, the company said.
The first phase of the 430-acre structure is expected to be completed until the end of 2021, and the phase of now is expected to be completed within 12 to 18 months.
