Nikola opens a truck factory in Arizona

COOLIDGE, Ariz. – Electric truck manufacturer Nikola opened a new plant on July 23 approximately an hour outside Phoenix, where the company is headquartered.

“The plant opens on July 23 in Coolidge, Arizona, to build 35,000 semi-trailers a year outside the plant,” wrote Trevor Milton, founder of Nikola Motor, on Twitter this week. “Unfortunately, the government is restricting 10 other people because of the virus, so we’re going to film it and publish it so everyone can see it. I’m sorry, this virus sucks. I hope they’re all there.”

The plant will create at least 1,800 new jobs once it is built, according to Nikola. The first structure is expected to be completed until the end of 2021, and the time will end between 12 and 18 months later.

“These trucks are going to be built here, parts will come from this site and the trucks will come out of this arrangement. They will cross I-10 across the country,” Nikola’s spokesman said. “This is the next evolution. This brings trucks, which are a massive polluter in our country. This brings those trucks to the market.”

Riots in a country thousands of miles away can increase fuel costs overnight, wreaking havoc on corporations to reach consumers.

The plant is expected to occupy 1 million square feet, the city has not yet reviewed plans for the site, but hopes to begin the procedure in August, Said Coolidge City Director Rick Miller.

“Our plan is being approved with the city of Coolidge and they have indicated that there will be no challenge to meet our program,” a spokesman for Nikola told FOX Business on July 23. “We are completing our detailed engineering paints with Walbridge, our contractor. Then, the physical paintings of the structure site will begin. Everything is as scheduled.”

Nikola’s resolve to continue investing in Phoenix’s great dominance comes at a time when the city presents itself as a magnet for generation and commercial companies.

“Arizona has a lot of space,” said Carrie Kelly of the Arizona Association for The Economic Development of FOX Companies.

Milton is his company against Tesla, its much larger electric vehicle rival. Now, like Tesla, it is indexed on the stock market after its merger with a special target acquisition company on June 3.

Nikola also focuses on hydrogen cars powered by heavy-duty fuel cells.
