The allocation will be based on the old RAF in south Wales.
NG Bailey and Rolton Group have secured roles in the structure of a huge 1.2 billion pound lithium-ion battery plant in south Wales that will serve the renewable and automotive sectors.
Bailey will lead the structure of the facility, which will be planned for the old RAF at Bro Tathan, while Rolton will provide the technical design to the investor of the Britishvolt project.
Last year, Bailey named the UK Battery Industrialization Centre (BIC) principal contractor of 126 million pounds in Coventry.
Britishvolt signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Wales last month on the allocation of gigaplantes and said it was looking for the plant to start production in 2023.
The Italian architectural and automotive design corporation Pininfarina designs the facility, and the Ridge and Partners assignment manages the architecture. The latter corporate is also part of the BIC allocation team.
Britishvolt’s leader, Orral Nadjari, said the gigaplanta would be one of the largest commercial investments ever made in the UK.
“Our project is for the giga plant to start supplying the automotive and energy industries with world-class batteries, driving the electric revolution,” he said.
“With these highly experienced new partners leading the structure phase, we have the expertise to build and equip a gigantic plant that will affect the UK automotive industry, the renewable energy industry and the entire UK economy.
Aston Martin luxury car logo finished a new production facility in Bro Tathan late last year. It also houses the corporate aircraft recycling eCube.
Britishvolt said he had appointed Ray Macera as the allocation manager for the gigaplant. Macera recently worked at the Gestamp urgent plant that jaguar Land Rover plant in Nitra, Slovakia.
