A Dundee car dealership garage with a turbulent beyond is about to a new life.
South Road Motors has received permission from Dundee City Council for a car wash company.
The site was operated in the past through local car dealership Charles Sandeman, who made headlines when its South Road Motors and Ancrum Autos dealerships closed une explanation in 2018.
However, in January this year, a Glasgow-based company filed an application through the permission of Dundee-based architect Peter Inglis to replace the use of the South Road site.
Owner Jim Boyle, who runs JIB Properties on site, said the garage would offer car sales and car wash services.
He added: “The site attracted a lot of consultations and the Glasgow company’s goal of launching a previous launch in the year, but the development of Covid-19 is delayed.
“A new progression is underway and the new company is scheduled to open next month.
“I’m a new tenant who’s been discovered and I’m making progress. “
Former tenant Charles Sandeman filed an insolvency application at the end of August last year after accumulating 325,558 euros of non-payments.
When the South Road garage closed in 2018, the staff said, first, that the garage had been closed by revising; however, Sandeman later claimed that he had exercised “exit” clauses on the rents he had for the sites, to the fury of his owners who said that, that was not the case.
His company Sillerton Ltd, which had never filed accounts in its 1. 5-year period, ended.
Dundee City Council recently gave the go-ahead for the car wash app on the condition that it be operational by 8 a. m. at 8 p. m. Monday to Saturday and from 9 a. m. to 8 p. m. Sundays.
In addition, at no time will constant high pressure cleaners be installed on the esplanade.
Scottish Water is also under pressure that, for sustainability reasons and to protect consumers from long-term sewer flooding, surface water does not adhere to the unit’s sewerage system.
