The new 1. 0 TSI e-TEC engine combines a three-cylinder, 108 hp gas engine with a 48-volt lithium-ion battery and a belt starter generator. A popular seven-speed DSG gearbox, the new propulsion system is available on the Skoda Octavia SE and SE Technology models, with costs starting at $23,005 on the road for the SE sedán.
The 48-volt formula allows the Octavia to move freely with the engine absolutely off for extended periods, with the electric motor maintaining the power source of essential formulas such as the driving force of the car, while the lightweight hybrid formula recovers. The engine was developed to improve responsiveness and reduce CO2 emissions, the latter falling to 115 g/km.
The new e-TEC model, to be ordered from Skoda retailers, will be joined later through a plug-in hybrid iV variant.
