Skoda’s popular Enyaq and Enyaq Coupé models have been updated with styling tweaks based on the brand’s “modern and strong” design language, as well as innovations in devices and generations to make them even more competitive.
The Enyaq Skoda’s first completely electric model. A typical Skoda blend of area and value, it proved incredibly popular with buyers – we gave it a score of 8 out of ten in our Skoda Enyaq review.
Now, almost four years after their launch in the UK, the sportier Enyaq and Enyaq Coupé models are being updated in reaction to the biggest competition from competitors, especially from the Far East.
The new pictures released by Skoda show how the brand’s ‘modern solid’ design language has been applied to the Enyaq with a new front end where the traditional grille is replaced by a gloss black illuminated tech deck, which hides many of the sensors. Those include a radar and front camera required for safety and autonomous driving features.
A new headlight design features narrow LED marker lights at the top, which extend to the Enyaq’s fenders, with the headlight cluster incorporated into a new front bumper design.
Along the flanks, the side skirts are now body-coloured, while at the rear, the Skoda lettering is now dark chrome, as is the front bonnet.
The Enyaq’s new look has given the car an extra boost – aerodynamics, which Skoda says will increase the car’s range. The even more aerodynamic Enyaq Coupe will now travel a maximum of 365 miles on a single charge, up from a maximum of 350 miles.
The interior has been carried over pretty much unchanged, with the same spacious cabin and just a new heated steering wheel to boast about. Every model gets a boost to equipment levels with keyless entry and start, heated seats and tri-zone climate control now standard. There are four option packs – Advanced, Maxx, Transport and Winter – and a number of different design packages for the interior featuring a greater use of sustainable materials. And, of course, there are plenty of Skoda’s famous Simply Clever features like a handy ice scraper that’s now made of sustainable plastic, as is the umbrella in the driver’s door.
There are still two battery sizes available – 63kWh and 82kWh – with front or all-wheel drive and SE L, Edition and SportLine trim levels. However, on-board tech has been upgraded with a new MySkoda app and new software giving the 13-inch infotainment screen a boost. Driver assistance and safety systems have also been improved.
More details on the price changes are expected soon, while the new Enyaq will arrive in Skoda showrooms in April, at the same time as Skoda’s second all-electric model, the smaller Elroq, which is now on sale at prices starting at £31,500. Training
