New plans approved for the park’s electrical esplanade

Planning approval has been granted for a new electrical concourse in a South Staffordshire park.

GRIDSERVE, a UK-based technology-based sustainable energy company, is set to move forward with the advancement of a phased GRIDSERVE Electric Forecourt® on Parcel D of the i54 business park, which is located on the border of Wolverhampton County.

It is expected to include the structure of an electric vehicle charging station with ancillary uses, adding retail, catering, related electrical infrastructure, parking and landscaping.

The plan-making application, approved through South Staffordshire Council, states that Electric Forecourt® will operate on 100 per cent net-zero energy and eventually service cars, motorcycles and heavy-duty vehicles.

I54 currently employs around 2,700 people, some of whom are held among others living within a 16-kilometre radius.

As the most successful business domain in the country, it has evolved through an award-winning partnership between Staffordshire County Council, Wolverhampton Council and South Staffordshire Council.

“The proposals appear to be the best occupant compatibility we already have in the i54 and will offer improved facilities.

Other occupants of the i54 arrive with the electric propulsion production centre of Jaguar Land Rover, Moog Aircraft Group, ERA Total Security and Atlas Copco.

A further 60 acres of land have also been added to the west side of the i54, with its first occupant, Fortune Brands Innovations, a new technologically improved facility expected to come online later this year.
