The Lives of Homeless Youth as They Are Helped Transition to Able-Disabled Advocacy’s Pre-Learning Education Program

SAN DIEGO, Feb. 12, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Who will get a rose? And what is being done to address homeless youth?

Elyana is an inspiring young lady who forges roses from steel. From her first steps, Elyana was a fixture in her father’s tattoo studio, immersed in an atmosphere abuzz with creativity and the distinct aroma of ink.

Today, she and another apprentice candidate have graduated from a 10-week program where she channels her artistic legacy into sculpting metal with flame.

“Every apprentice carries a unique tale, an intrinsic motivation, and a vision they’re diligently working to fulfill,” observes Efrain Lagunas, Program Director at Pathways2Paychecks.

“Elyana’s skill lies not only in the handmade elegance of her metallic roses; It also resides in the tenacity and courage he displays on a base. This fundraiser aims to help her, and many others like her, turn their ambitions into tangible achievements. .

Now, she wants a car to make her dreams come true, and Pathways2Paychecks helps her get there. He wants to get a position in the world of welding, as most apprenticeship systems require reliable transportation. He wants homeless youth to follow in his footsteps.

Elyana’s story is at the heart of Pathways2Paychecks’ new initiative: a crusade to train hardworking apprentices like her to get to their land and workplaces.

The fundraiser is dedicated to dismantling the transport hurdles that frequently deter gifted individuals from their vocational pursuits in the trades.

Elyana is at the end of her apprenticeship. . . If only I had a car.

A Novelty on Homeless Youth

As housing affordability in America reaches a crisis stage, the pre-apprenticeship program focuses on responses that start with a job, to earn a wage, to pay for housing, when apprentices have a car.

In the United States, approximately 4. 2 million young people face homelessness each year, totaling 700,000 children who are unaccompanied by their families or guardians. In California, an estimated 200,000 youth under the age of 18, as well as thousands of people between the ages of 18 and 24, are homeless at some point each year, figures reported through the California Youth Homeless Project in 2010.

Pathways2Paychecks partners with local businesses, civic figures, and transportation providers to increase budget and resources. The goal is to provide apprentices with car loans, bus passes, fuel cars, and bicycles for those taking shorter trips. Reliable transportation for a task is the key to overcoming homelessness once learning begins.

To support the fundraiser, contributions can be made on the Pathways2Paychecks GoFundMe page.

Every donation propels apprentices like Elyana to have a bright, solid, long-term career in construction.

Although Elyana has shelter, many of her companions are very lucky. By joining forces, we aim to eliminate homelessness for generations in the long term and tame a professional workforce capable of transforming metal into art.

Pathways2Paychecks is an initiative funded by the U. S. Department of Labor. She joins the U. S. through Able-Disabled Advocacy, a San Diego-based nonprofit that since 1975 has removed barriers to work for others with disabilities. unique workplace challenges, furthering the legacy of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Array Elyana’s inspiring adventure to the forefront, emblematic of the learners’ determination and aspirations.
