A new car showroom and car wash will be built on the Lancashire coast after planners approved the proposals.
Lancaster City Council planners accepted plans for four new buildings on Mellishaw Lane, Morecambe, at a meeting earlier this week.
Designs include housing for 30 employment units, the addition of a new automobile showroom, car wash and valet buildings, as well as the framing of new roads, parking, fencing, landscaping and related infrastructure.
The proposals also include the installation of 18 new electric vehicle charging stations so that local citizens can own electric cars.
The new structure is located on a largely undeveloped estate to the north of Mellishaw Lane.
The site is currently home to Cox Motor Group’s AutoMart dealership, the company is currently located in a transient building.
The council’s planning report shows the car and valet building is single storey and a new road has been proposed from the B5273 to Golf Drive, as well as new parking spaces and a pumping station.
A design and accession of the plans said: “The new car showroom is on the domain of the existing Lancaster Volkswagen site and will upgrade the existing Automart sales which are housed in a transitional building. “
He added: “The new construction of car sales will make room for Automart and two other car brands. »
An air quality assessment was presented to show the effect in the worst-case scenario: the increase in vehicle movements by 3 percent and heavy truck movements by 5. 6 percent, depending on the use occupied by the garage and units.
The proposal states that a total of 18 electric vehicle charging points will be installed, which will help reduce air quality once the site is built.
