New Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Racecar Competes In Daytona Before Its Official Debut

Aston Martin recently announced that the next-generation Vantage GT3 will be unveiled on February 12 alongside the road-going Vantage. However, the race made its debut at the 24 Hours of Daytona last weekend, showcasing its redesigned chassis to unsuspecting spectators.

The updated race car made its first public appearance in qualifying on January 22, ahead of the race weekend on January 27 and 28. However, without an official announcement, it has largely gone unnoticed.

Not wanting to spoil the wonder ahead of the official debut, Aston Martin Racing (AMR) kept a low profile on social media. Most photos and videos of the race car focus on the familiar profile and rear, rather than showing us the redesigned face. .

Footage from the 24-hour race and close-ups uploaded to IMSA’s online page recommend that Aston Martin tried to camouflage the new headlights with stickers; The difference from the previous style is quite obvious. We can also see the revised nose that leads to the new grille, while the two bumper air intakes are completely covered on the race car. Like its predecessor, the GT3 styling looks a lot wilder than the road-going Vantage thanks to a wider frame kit and particularly greater aerodynamics.

Under the hood is an AMG-sourced 4. 0-liter twin-turbo V8, limited to producing between 500 and 600 horsepower in the race car, in accordance with GT3 regulations. It’s fair to assume that AMR engineers made innovations to the chassis setup of the previous Vantage GT3 that debuted in 2018.

Three examples of the modern Aston Martin Vantage GT3 competed in this year’s 24 Hours of Daytona. The No. 44 Magnus Racing car was forced to retire, but the No. 23 Heart of Racing took fourth place. In addition to the GT3 model, Aston Martin will soon unveil a GT4 race car, as revealed by the camouflaged prototypes that recently made their first appearance on the track.
