Winning photographer Sam Tippetts will show off his art in National Geographic’s official project and will be Mazda’s next content partner.

IRVINE, California, September 18, 2020 / PRNewswire / – Last night, National Geographic and Mazda closed the first photo-based contest, Assignment: Inspiration. Sam Tippetts announced as the winner and upcoming wonderful National Geographic narrator in a special broadcast on National Geographic.

The Assignment: Inspiration program began with a contest shared through national Geographic’s Instagram account Your Shot, which invited emerging photographers to tell a visual story about where they find inspiration. Mazda presented the festival as a component of its Power of Potential platform, honoring Americans who make a difference, realizing their perspectives, and in the end motivating others.

From these presentations, National Geographic and Mazda have decided that 3 narrators participate in a series of photo missions. These demanding situations were encouraged through an exploration of Hiroshima, Japan, with which he experienced National Geographic photographer and Assignment: Inspiration mentor David Guttenfelder. During his journey, Guttenfelder immersed himself in the city’s legacy to better perceive Mazda’s design values: Takumi’s knowledge, ingenuity and difficulties in raising others.

The 3 finalists of Mission: Inspiration Nina Mayer Ritchie, Beth Mancuso and Sam Tippetts have created amazing and uplifting photographs. Finally, Tippetts, a young intrepid photographer from Boerne, TX, declared a winner.

“Throughout the missions, Sam’s determination for visual storytelling resused in us,” said Brad Audet, Mazda’s Director of American Operations. “Mazda designers and engineers have a technique similar to their paintings as craftsmen for mastering their skills. passion, in every task to create a vehicle that evokes a feeling.

Tippetts officially becomes Mazda’s next content spouse and National Geographic narrator with an official project for National Geographic Travel where his original paintings will be on National Geographic Travel’s virtual platforms.

“Photography is the center of National Geographic and a component of our 132-year heritage of telling stories that matter,” said George Stone, editor-in-chief of National Geographic Travel. “Seeing the next generation of visual storytellers use their talent to motivate others to care more about the planet motivates us. We are delighted to see where Sam is headed his mission, and look forward to sharing the effects on our National Geographic travel platforms. “

Produced through National Geographic CreativeWorks, National Geographic’s branded content studio and Disney CreativeWorks component, with Radley Studios, the contest had a cross-platform promotion with unprecedented success in National Geographic’s social and virtual properties, adding virtual video and social components, highlighting The Photographer in the Contest. Participation has been successful in more than 225 million National Geographic Fans and Fans of Social and Digital Properties.
