UPDATE: 11:10 a.m.
RCMP verifies that a motorcyclist was killed in a collision this morning outdoors at Vernon’s courthouse.
The intersection of 27th Street and 30th Avenue was closed for several hours while police were investigating the death.
Police, firefighters and paramedics arrive at the site at approximately 7:30 a.m.
Corporal Tania Finn said a van turned left on 30th Avenue on 27th Street when a westbound motorcycle entered the intersection and hit the passenger side of the truck.
Although he was taken to hospital, the corridor, a 22-year-old Vernon man, succumbed to his injuries.
The van’s driving force remained on site and cooperated with police investigators.
Finn says many other people stopped to help the motorcyclist.
Investigators have spoken to several witnesses, but are still interested in talking to anyone traveling east on 30th Avenue at the time of the collision. They’re calling Const. Steven McCarthy at 250-545-7171
The circle of relatives of the deceased has been notified and is receiving bereavement assistance.
The police cleared and the intersection reopened.
The B.C. Forensics service and the RCMP to investigate the incident.
UPDATE: 9:10 a.m.
This morning’s crash outdoors at Vernon Courthouse involved a one-ton motorcycle and van.
Ambulance crews left the scene, but a motorcycle from Kaaki Street lay on the sidewalk at the intersection of 27th Street and 30th Avenue and debris was scattered at the site of the turn of fate.
Police closed the block between 30th Avenues and the avenues to traffic.
The truck stopped halfway to the block with wounds on the front and hood.

Emergency crews are at the site of a serious collision at the intersection of 27th Street and Avenue at Vernon on Wednesday morning.
Traffic is drifting around the intersection and police are urging drivers to the domain for the time being and decide on a route of choice.
The Northern OKanagan RCMP says it will provide more data as it gets available.
