The twist of fate on the A456 near Bewdley was reported at 5:37 p. m. on Sunday.

Two ambulances, two paramedics and the Strensham Midlands air ambulance and one patient, the motorcyclist, went to the scene.

Crews administered resuscitations, but it became clear that nothing could be done to save the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesman for the West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “When we arrived, we found the motorcyclist, a man, in critical condition.

“Ambulance personnel immediately began administering complex resuscitation and specialized trauma care on the road. However, despite their fruitful efforts, it has unfortunately become apparent that nothing can be done to save the man and his death was proven at the scene.

“The driver of the van was evaluated and released without the need to be transferred to the hospital. “
