MotoGP of Andalusia: who has gone forward twice in Jerez?

Comparison of qualifying and race times on the first consecutive occasions of MotoGP on the same circuit; Jerez hosts the Andalusian Grand Prix of Spain on consecutive weekends.

What do you have in the first consecutive MotoGP races on the same circuit (Jerez)?

The answer, at least when it comes to the two most productive drivers of qualification and racing, is not much: Fabio Quartararo winning pole positions and race victories ahead of compatriot Yamaha Maverick Vinales.

Their qualifying times were slower on the warmer weekend, but at a race distance, they were a little more than a faster moment than last week (Vinales switched from padded front tire to hard front tire).

The top driver took a step forward in Tech3 KTM’s Miguel Oliveira rating, which won 0.620s and twelve grid spots in the one-week area, with Valentino Rossi (Monster Yamaha) peak productive moment with a cumulative seven put and 0.399s.

Johann Zarco (Avintia Ducati), Iker Lecuona (Tech3 KTM), Franco Morbidelli (Petronas Yamaha) and Joan Mir (Suzuki) discovered several tenths in their time trial.

A lot of injuries and technical disorders in any of the races makes progress in the 25 laps of the Grand Prix more difficult to assess on a giant component of the grille.

However, among those who, like Quartararo and Vinales, finished any of the races, the biggest jump was made by Takaaki Nakagami of LCR. The Japanese are 16 fastest moments in the race at the moment, heading for fourth place after 10th place in the first race.

Repsol Honda’s next most productive rookie, Alex Marquez, with an admirable 9-second improvement. Bradley Smith of Aprilia won four seconds despite poor functionality on Sunday’s first corner between KTM drivers Brad Binder and Miguel Oliveira.

Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati) and Pol Espargaró (KTM) lost ground. Dovi lost five seconds of his own podium in the first race, while Espargaró slid nine more seconds.
