Moto: Espargaró for Honda for 2021 in Position of Alex Marquez

(Reuters) – Spaniard Pol Espargaró signed a two-year contract to compete with MotoGP champion Repsol Honda, starting in 2021, when Marc Marquez’s brother Alex moved to the LCR in British Cal Crutchlow’s position, Honda said Monday.

The 2020 MotoGP season has still begun, with the first race planned for this weekend on the Spanish circuit of Jerez without spectators.

Alex Marquez, who won Moto2 last year, will make his Repsol Honda debut in MotoGP this season before moving on to the LCR satellite with his contract ended until the end of 2022.

The movements had been widely reported in the sport, with KTM already pronouncing the Portuguese driving force Miguel Oliveira to upgrade Espargaró to his factory equipment.

“HRC would like to thank Cal Crutchlow for his diligent and tireless work since joining HRC in 2015,” Honda added.

“With 3 wins and 12 podiums, the British driver has been a valuable asset on and off the track: a constant source of profit for engineers and a key detail in the progression of the Honda RC213V in recent years.
