MILFORD – More important points have been made about the arrest of a Goshen guy on charges.
Daniel Gonzalez, 26, 808 College Ave. , Goshen, is charged with domestic battery and resisting law enforcement, both Class A misdemeanors; resisting law enforcement, operating a vehicle as a habitual traffic violator; and operating while intoxicated with an enhanced prior conviction, all Item 6 felonies; operating while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor; and domestic assault with prior conviction: same victim, a point five felony.
On July 4, a deputy with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic incident in Milford. One woman said Gonzalez pushed her to the ground and she was given the most sensible response on his part.
According to court documents, the woman said Gonzalez left the scene on a motorcycle and told the congressman that Gonzalez did not have a driver’s license. The agent discovered Gonzalez and arrested him. However, Gonzalez took his motorcycle and fled the scene when the officer attempted to download a driver’s license to him.
The agent pursued González, who left the motorcycle at the site of a structure and then began to flee on foot. The police were supposed to arrest González.
Gonzalez failed two field sobriety tests and tested 0. 10% BrAC in a qualified chemical test.
Gonzalez had been convicted in the past of domestic assault in Elkhart County in February 2022. The woman involved in the July incident was a victim of Gonzalez’s conviction for previous attack.
His driving privileges were also suspended for 10 years as a habitual traffic violator, with the suspension ending in November 2032. Gonzalez was previously convicted of OWI in Whitley County in September 2022.
González was already arrested and on bail. He has a first hearing at 1 p. m. Thursday, July 18 at the Third Superior Court of Kosciusko.
