Fiat Chrysler over 186,000 Ram pickup trucks and tells owners to take them to dealerships because floor mats can interfere with throttle pedals.
The retreat aims at some vans in the 2019 and 2020 style years with carpets installed from the factory, basically in North America.
The company said Friday that owners remove carpets for all seasons if there is not enough area between the carpet and throttle pedals, or if they can’t get to a dealership quickly. More than 43,000 carpets sold after the purchase of the trucks are also covered.
According to the company, one visitor reported that a mat interfered with the throttle pedal while driving a truck and that the driving force may not simply slow it down. The visitor stopped the truck by squeezing the brake. All FCA cars since 2011 have a brake throttle neutralization system, which shuts down the throttle and allows the brakes to triumph over acceleration if you step on any of the pedals at the same time.
Fiat Chrysler said it had no reports of injuries or injuries. The company says about 1% of retired cars will have the problem.
Owners will be notified by mail in mid-September and distributors will modify the carpets until reconfigured replacement carpet shipments arrive.
