The two long-running SUVs are being developed in progression in Alfa Romeo. Last June, the corporation first announced its goal of expanding its portfolio in the segment, but almost delivered no details. Now, the British magazine Auto Express has discovered more information about both models.
The Italian manufacturer’s study and progression team is working hard to create any of the models and prepare them for commercialization until 2020 or a while later.
The first will be a smaller crossover and will oppose models such as the Volvo XC40 and Audi Q3. It will be built on a shorter edition of the platform that underpins the Stelvio and Giulia. The fundamental fit will come with rear-wheel drive, while all-wheel drive will be an available option.
Unsurprisingly, the long-term crossover will operate at least partially with some form of electrical force and the autonomous driving capacity of point 3. This means that in some situations, the driving force is not obliged to do anything.
As for the SUV currently planned, it will live up to the segment, and compete with full-size luxury models like the Audi Q7. It will come with an option for 3 rows of seats and, like the smaller Stelvio, will be fed through a hybrid system.
Both models will be a key addition to Alfa Romeo’s diversity if the company expects to succeed in its 400,000-game sales target sold in 2022. Any hope of progress in the world’s two largest markets, the United States and China, depends on their capacity. . to offer a complete diversity of products in the SUV segment.
