NEW YORK – Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association have announced that they are expanding existing cash assistance systems to living Negro League players. Players who have played less than 4 seasons in the Negro Leagues will get an annual monetary allowance based on their time. in the Negro Leagues, the organizations said in a statement. A committee of MLB and MLBPA officials will identify eligibility criteria for the program. MLB said about 50 more living players would get monetary advantages.
