Mitsubishi Motors: taking credit for EV/PHEV as resources for virtual power plants Start operation of V2G advertising demonstration facilities

Thirty companies, in addition to Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, Inc., used the grant to cover the prices of their “Fiscal Year 2020 Demonstration Project for the structure of a demand-side virtual power plant (VPP Aggregation Project)”, for which a public offering was made through the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) as a component of its Open Innovation Initiative. Fix to launch the demo phase of this experiment. (Announced June 8, 2020)

We would like to inform you that today, August 6, 2020, began a verification operation with demonstration services built to demonstrate V2G (Vehicle to Grid) advertising programs that operate electric cars (hereinafter referred to as “EV/PHEV”) as Energy Resources, an initiative of Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, Inc., TEPCO Energy Partner, Inc., TEPCO Power Grid, Inc., Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, Hitachi Systems Power Services, Ltd. I worked together.

Through this experience, our goal is to demonstrate how EV/PHEV can be leveraged as VPP resources to allow us to balance the continued expansion of renewable energy resources (hereinafter referred to as “RES”) with the stabilization of the electricity grid. With our perspectives on the FY2021, we are recently examining the structure and commercialization of Vehicle to Grid (V2G) systems that can adjust demand/power supply through two-way ev/PHEV garage batteries.

This demo assignment was introduced in fiscal year 2018 through METI, and this is the third year in which the six corporations discussed above participate in the allocation. In fiscal year 2018-2, the first year of the assignment, we built a demonstration environment to verify that bidirectional force movement is imaginable between EV/PHEV and force networks, and demonstrated that this can contribute to the stability of the force network (announced on February 26, 2019). During fiscal year 2019-3, the year of the assignment, we added about 40 EV/PHEV (for a total of 59 vehicles) and built one of Japan’s largest experimental environments. In addition, given the desires for EV/PHEV mobility, we have activated simultaneous control of EV/PHEV parked at demo sites via an online formula (see Appendix 2).

In the future, we will continue to plan a V2G trading style as we examine tactics to refine V2G according to the business style, such as examining strategies to safeguard sudden mobility desires (e.g. fluctuation in the number of vehicles) (inter-transfer of site power).

By taking advantage of EV/PHEB garage batteries well, the consortium aims to publicize the use of SRE to address energy and environmental problems.
