Mitsubishi Mirage has a new face

While rumours are circulating about Mitsubishi’s long-term in the U.S. And North America in general, it turns out that the Japanese manufacturer will not go anywhere.

On Tuesday, Mitsubishi announced that four cars would be updated. Above all, it is a new generation Outlander, which is expected to debut at this time next year. Without sharing additional details, the company said the 2022 Outlander would be “bigger, bolder and better” and would feature elements that would “change the game.”

For anything that pleases the Outlander faithful in the near future, the Outlander Plug-in Hybrid is about to undergo some changes. We will see the PHEV SUV on sale at the end of 2020 with a new forcetrain logo that will produce more force and more electric autonomy. Currently, the SUV travels 22 miles with electric power only. Updates will also extend to other equipment levels, so you’ll probably see more popular gadgets and a list of updated options.

Mitsu’s smaller crossover, the Outlander Sport, will be postponed by 2021 after some style changes to the existing model. But really, the car wants a general overhaul.

In the first quarter of 2021, two other models will also get really extensive updates. Well, 3 if you divide the Mirage into its sedan and sedan variants. The Mirage G4 sedan and the popular Mirage Hatch will get unconfirmed design updates that Mitsubishi formalized for other countries last November. Honestly, the updates give the car a great look and this is still a small and affordable thing. Today, the initial value is just under $15,000.

Along with the Mirage models, the Eclipse Cross cools down at the same time. Don’t expect powertrain settings, but external and internal designs will see updates. In particular, the external settings will be “greater”, depending on the car manufacturer and the interior will get a new infotainment system.

Clearly, Mitsubishi still has a position in North America as a component of the restructuring of the automotive manufacturer’s alliance components. The Japanese manufacturer works alongside Nissan and Renault French worldwide, and neither has recently explained a more explicated strategy for the countries in which it operates. It would not be unexpected to see outlander’s next percentage more than a few factors with Nissan.
