A 17-year-old is in condition after a crash Tuesday afternoon in Minnetonka, according to an incident report from the Minnesota State Patrol.
Authorities said the young woman was turning south on Williston Road in a Nissan Rogue when her vehicle struck a 29-year-old man who was driving a Chevrolet Equinox eastbound on Highway 7.
The young woman suffered life-threatening injuries in the accident and was taken to Hennepin Healthcare. A hospital spokesman said he remained in critical condition Wednesday afternoon.
A spokesperson for Hopkins Public Schools sent five EYEWITNESS NEWS the following statement:
“We are deeply saddened to confirm that an HHS teacher was hit by a car Tuesday afternoon. Our thoughts are with the teachers and their families at this difficult time. The entire school network was affected by this unfortunate incident. To provide assistance to our teachers and staff who may be suffering or in need of help, we have increased availability of intellectual fitness professionals at HHS. They will remain in their posts as long as necessary. We ask for the privacy of the educators involved and their families as they navigate. This is a difficult time. Any additional updates will be communicated through the official channels.
The driver of the Equinox suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
