MEXICO CITY – A VW broker in Mexico City apologized Tuesday for a photo posted in its offices that showed VW’s mistake at a Nazi rally and the automaker pledged to take unspecified ‘actions’ in the case.
The VW Type 1 sedan, known as the original beetle, the bug or in the Mexican case of the “bocho,” a car evolved under Adolf Hitler in the 1930s.
The Coyoacán Volkswagen dealership in southern Mexico posted a series of historical images of the bug, adding one of a 1938 rally with stika flags where the car was unveiled.
A Twitter user complained and the dealership said Tuesday it had disposed of the images and expressed “the biggest apologies” to those offended.
Volkswagen de México wrote on its Twitter account: “The symbols conform to our logo or that of our dealers. We will act. “
