Car dealership Mervyn Stewart has made a $2 million investment to expand its activities on Boucher Crescent, with the support of Danske Bank.
As one of the largest stores in Northern Ireland, the company has been operating for more than 50 years with locations in Belfast and North Down.
In March, the opportunity arose to take over a venue that used to run the INFINITI franchise, which had already purchased adjacent assets and, after closing, the corporate completed a remodel to remodel the area into its first autonomous Mervyn Stewart Select used car facility.
This will involve the creation of 10 jobs in the coming months.
Chief executive, Stephen Stewart, said: “This year, each and every retail sector has faced increasingly demanding situations with the uncertainty of the Covid-19 pandemic, but we are confident that we have presented our Mervyn Stewart Select logo at the right time.
“There has already been a significant uptick in sales, with the need to bring functionality in June and July.
“Our Select logo will allow us to react temporarily to market settings.”
Ellen Matthews, director of corporate banking at Danske Bank, added: “This is a company that has been a key player in the Northern Ireland automotive market for a long time and has controlled the coronavirus lock well by temporarily moving to a virtual system.sales platform.
“Mervyn Stewart has proven time and time again that they are resilient, artistic and avant-garde in the way they respond to visitor trends.”
